It’s much easier to follow the same pattern because of the comfort and familiarity that our minds have associated with these practices. The routines we develop are what makes it hard to break our habits as the patterns reside in our heads. The reason why habits are so powerful is because we start to anticipate the rewards and develop a response within our body to crave them. When we deeply analyze the environment where our habits reside, we can start to see a pattern emerging. ![]() Good and bad habits are created when our brain stops being fully engaged in the choices we make.Understanding the structure of habits can encourage us to find new behaviors and create the habit loops we want.The reward is the emotional, physical, and/or mental benefits.The routine is the habit, the set of actions we perform.The cue is a trigger, a sub-conscious craving of the reward which actions us.Habits can be broken down into a cycle of Cue, Routine, and Reward.The choices we make in our daily lives can be explained through several habit loops. ![]()
